Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Services Lecturer to join our team at MidKent College. As a Public Services Lecturer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning to our students, ensuring they achieve their full potential and gain the skills and knowledge required to succeed in their chosen careers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Learning
    • Deliver high-quality teaching and learning to students, using a range of teaching methods and resources to engage and motivate them.
    • Develop and implement effective lesson plans, schemes of work, and assessment strategies to meet the needs of students.
    • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to help them improve.
  • Course Management
    • Manage the day-to-day running of courses, including communication with students, parents, and other stakeholders.
    • Coordinate and administer course performance monitoring, attendance, and retention.
    • Develop and implement course materials, including schemes of work, lesson plans, and assessment strategies.
  • Student Support
    • Provide pastoral support to students, including guidance and direction in academic and personal matters.
    • Assist students with UCAS references, personal statements, and other applications.
    • Monitor student attendance and progress, and take action to address any issues.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and implement courses, training methods, and materials.
    • Attend meetings, including staff meetings, parent evenings, and marketing events.
    • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and other stakeholders to ensure that students receive the support they need.
  • Quality Assurance
    • Participate in quality assurance mechanisms, including verification, moderation, and course reviews.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of quality assurance procedures and policies.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A relevant teaching qualification, such as a PGCE or equivalent.
  • Experience of teaching and learning in a further education setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
