About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Aldi's National Sustainability team as a Sustainability Specialist. As a key member of the team, you will play a vital role in supporting the National Sustainability Manager in delivering ALDI UK & Ireland's Deforestation Strategy. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting Aldi UK and Ireland in progressing our performance across a range of deforestation areas, including Palm Oil, Soy, Timber, Beef, Fish and Seafood.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the National Sustainability Manager in delivering ALDI UK & Ireland's Deforestation Strategy
  • Progress Aldi UK and Ireland's performance across a range of deforestation areas
  • Steer Aldi UK and Ireland through new requirements regarding deforestation, including legislations (EUDR, upcoming UK legislation)
  • Liaise with colleagues in our commercial team and key suppliers to drive adoption of deforestation-free commodities
  • Manage compliance to strict certifications for fairly traded commodities (Cocoa, Coffee, Tea, Bananas, Sugar etc.)
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the traceability and tracking of in-scope commodities

About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual with a passion for sustainability and environmental protection. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of forestry legislations and certifications, excellent communication and information management skills, and experience in managing stakeholder and supplier relationships. If you are a team player with a strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn, we would love to hear from you.

  • Salary from £36,080 rising to £42,135
  • Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, with the opportunity of 2 days remote working
