About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Sustainability Specialist to join our team at Aldi. As a key member of our National Sustainability team, you will play a vital role in supporting our commitment to eliminating deforestation from our supply chain by 2025.

As a Sustainability Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting the National Sustainability Manager in delivering our Deforestation Strategy. This will involve working closely with colleagues in our commercial team and key suppliers to drive adoption of deforestation-free commodities.

You will also be responsible for managing compliance to strict certifications, engaging with internal stakeholders on opportunities for new fairly traded products, and increasing our coverage of certified Fairtrade, Rainforest Alliance, and other products.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and information management skills, experience working on the topic of forests, deforestation, and risk commodities, and knowledge of relevant forestry legislations and certifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the National Sustainability Manager in delivering our Deforestation Strategy
  • Working with colleagues in our commercial team and key suppliers to drive adoption of deforestation-free commodities
  • Managing compliance to strict certifications
  • Engaging with internal stakeholders on opportunities for new fairly traded products
  • Increasing our coverage of certified Fairtrade, Rainforest Alliance, and other products

What You'll Need:

  • Experience working on the topic of forests, deforestation, and risk commodities
  • Knowledge of relevant forestry legislations and certifications
  • Excellent communication and information management skills
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and be flexible to business requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and tracking of key metrics

What We Offer:

  • Salary from £36,080 rising to £42,135
  • Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, with the opportunity of 2 days remote working
