About the Role

Sense is seeking a Head of Technology Solutions to lead the design and delivery of technical solutions across the organization. This role is responsible for planning and delivering change to technology solutions, ensuring an efficient and well-managed supply chain to meet the organization's needs. The role also oversees Cyber Security across the estate, including training of staff and testing of incident responses.

This role will lead a team of infrastructure and application solutions analysts and work closely with suppliers. The Head of Technology Solutions will be responsible for delivering corporate, coherent technology, promoting standard solutions, and ensuring the needs of users are met. The role holder will need to work with business areas, helping them to focus on business value and requirements, while delivering sustainable, efficient, and elegant solutions that drive business benefit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Heads of Data Management and Service Delivery (Technology) to scope, plan, monitor, and deliver projects successfully, within budget and on time
  • Develop effective working relationships with senior managers across Sense to translate strategic priorities into practical projects and programs that they can deliver
  • Lead, motivate, and inspire the Technology Solutions team to collaborate effectively to deliver on their personal targets and objectives, plans, and budgets
  • Carry out the relevant people management for the team, including recruitment, annual appraisals, motivating performance, management of sickness absence, and, where necessary, applying HR policies and procedures
  • Own the technical platforms and architecture for the technology estate, with a particular focus on the application and user experience
  • Establish and deliver technical roadmaps for all platforms
  • Establish a DevOps approach and CICD pipeline for key applications services
  • Manage technical delivery for business-driven projects, from solution design to service transition
  • Support internal projects across the organization that impact or involve the team
  • Supply chain management

Skills and Attributes:

  • Experience of managing suppliers in a multi-supplier environment
  • Knowledge of Cyber Security principles
  • Broad knowledge of end-to-end technology delivery from concept to in service
  • Project and Programme Management skills, capable of working on multiple projects and initiatives at the same time
  • Experience of working in a charity or social care environment desirable
  • Stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work with teams of varying technical abilities
  • A thorough knowledge of technology solutions, including Applications, Platforms, Cyber Security, Cloud, and Integration
  • Experience of delivering technology solutions through suppliers, including defining requirements, evaluating and selecting solutions, and managing delivery and acceptance from a technical perspective
  • Knowledge of IT architecture, including developing architecture models using TOGAF or equivalent methodology
  • Knowledge of Project and Programme Management tools and techniques, for example Agile (all variants) or PRINCE2
  • A demonstrable commitment to enabling an inclusive and diverse workforce to reflect our community
