The role of a Principal Trading Standards Officer with the Regulatory Services Partnership (RSP) is to deliver consumer protection enforcement services across Merton, Wandsworth, and Richmond Councils.

About the Role:

This position requires a highly skilled and experienced professional to tackle issues such as underage sales of prohibited goods, doorstep crime, and rogue builders. The successful candidate will lead the development of best practice policies and procedures, undertake complex investigations of regional or national significance, and represent the RSP at regional and national forums.

In this key role, you will be expected to deliver a range of consumer protection enforcement services including consumer complaints, business advice, inspections, project work, and formal legal action.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tackle issues such as underage sales of prohibited goods, doorstep crime, and rogue builders
  • Deliver a range of consumer protection enforcement services
  • Lead the development of best practice policies and procedures
  • Undertake complex investigations of regional or national significance
  • Represent the RSP at regional and national forums

Merton, Wandsworth, and Richmond Councils have formed a unique Regulatory Services Partnership (RSP) that delivers critical and statutory services to keep Londoners safe. Our diverse population and high-profile venues include the All England Lawn Tennis Club (Wimbledon), AFC Wimbledon, Twickenham Rugby Stadium, the Battersea Power Station development, and New Covent Garden Market.

We offer a competitive salary of £42,324 - £49,551 per annum, plus an Essential User Car Allowance of £963 per annum. Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme, excellent holiday entitlement, flexible working options, and a mileage scheme for officers using their car for work are also provided.
