Training Programme Director - Core Psychiatry NW

The successful candidate will oversee the delivery of the Core Psychiatry training programme in NHS England North West, ensuring high-quality education and training for psychiatry trainees.

As a key member of the School Board and Core Psychiatry Specialty Training committee, the post holder will work closely with the Head of School to develop and implement a Medical Workforce Strategy that supports the recruitment and retention of Core Psychiatry trainees.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical education, with experience in organising and delivering education programmes and working with doctors in an educational context.

They will also have a deep understanding of the workforce transformation agenda and be trained and experienced in recruitment, selection, and Equality and Diversity.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing a Medical Workforce Strategy to support the recruitment and retention of Core Psychiatry trainees
  • Working with the Head of School to develop and implement education programmes and courses
  • Providing educational supervision to psychiatry trainees
  • Contributing to the School Board and Core Psychiatry Specialty Training committee
  • Supporting the Head of School in the strategic development of the North West School of Psychiatry

The post holder will be a Consultant in Core Psychiatry on the Specialist Register and have a strong commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Salary will be paid in line with TPD sessional payments, depending on experience.
