Training Programme Director - Core Psychiatry NW

The successful candidate will oversee the delivery of the Core Psychiatry training programme in NHS England North West, working closely with the Head of School to develop and implement a Medical Workforce Strategy that supports the recruitment and retention of Core Psychiatry Trainees.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive training programme that meets the needs of Core Psychiatry Trainees
  • Collaborating with the Head of School to develop and implement a Medical Workforce Strategy that supports the recruitment and retention of Core Psychiatry Trainees
  • Providing educational supervision to psychiatric trainees
  • Working with the Core Psychiatry Speciality Training committee to develop and implement training programmes
  • Contributing to the strategic development of the North West School of Psychiatry

The ideal candidate will be a Consultant in Core Psychiatry on the Specialist Register, with a Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma or Masters in Medical Education. They will have experience of organising and delivering education programmes, working with doctors in an educational context, and experience as an educational supervisor. They will also have a strong understanding of the workforce transformation agenda and be trained and experienced in recruitment, selection and Equality and Diversity.

The salary for this role will be paid in line with TPD sessional payments, depending on experience.
