About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as a Training Programme Director for Palliative Medicine. This is a unique opportunity to lead the development of a Medical Workforce Strategy that supports the recruitment and retention of Palliative Medicine Trainees.

Main Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Head of School of Medicine to develop and implement a Medical Workforce Strategy that promotes health and well-being.

Requirements
  • Consultant in Palliative Medicine on the Specialist Register.
  • Consultant currently working in the NHS in the North West of England.
  • Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians.
  • Education Qualification such as Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma, or Masters in Medical Education.
Experience
  • Experience of organising/delivering education programmes/courses and working with doctors in an educational context.
  • Considerable experience of working with doctors in an educational context.
  • Experience as an educational supervisor.
  • Previous or current appointment as a Leader in Healthcare Education.
  • Understanding of the workforce transformation agenda.
  • Trained and experienced in recruitment, selection, and Equality and Diversity in the last 3 years.
  • Demonstrable track record of delivery in service and education.
  • Applicants who are doctors require a Licence to Practise.
  • Awareness of funding streams for education or current appointment as a leader in healthcare education.
  • Previous or current appointment as a leader in healthcare education.
  • Clinical Manager Experience.
  • Experience in recruitment.

  • Demonstrable Leadership skills, consistent with own personal style, and an ability to motivate others.
  • A strong sense of vision and an ability to innovate.
  • Politically astute with an ability to sensitively manage complexity and uncertainty.
  • Ability to quickly establish personal and professional credibility with colleagues and other key stakeholders.
  • Adequate organisational skills to be able to deliver the operational aspects of the role in a timely manner.
  • Committed to own personal development and an ability to support others to develop and progress.
  • Ability to rapidly establish academic credibility.

Salary paid in line with TPD sessional payments.
