About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Analyst to join our team at Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust. As a key member of our Income and Contracts team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the delivery of financial reporting and sustainable financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the Income Assistant (Income and Contracts) and provide ongoing training and support.
- Prepare and process clinical income activity through the Trust's income monitoring system (SLAM), ensuring accurate and timely reporting.
- Oversee the accounting, financial reporting, and invoicing of central income, including non-patient care income, and liaise with external bodies and Finance Business Partners.
- Prepare and maintain monthly accrual/deferral journals, including backup for audit requirements.
- Review and brief relevant managers on the Trust income position, including central income and devolved income.
- Prepare the refresh of the central income forecast and brief relevant managers.
- Maintain detailed reconciliations for patient care activities income transactions.
- Develop and produce monthly divisional performance reports and commentary.
- Analyse financial information, investigate income variances, and suggest corrective action.
- Write the reporting of income to the Trust Board and Finance Committee.
- Complete the monthly Provider Finance in-year monitoring return (PFR) for the income-related tabs.
Requirements
- Degree in Accountancy or a related field.
- AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) Member level or equivalent.
- European Computer Driving Licence.
- Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
- Excellent financial and analytical skills, with the ability to concentrate for long periods.
- Excellent knowledge of Payments by Results (PbR) and related regulations.
- Specialised knowledge and expertise in PbR, including High Cost Drugs (HCDs), Non-Contracted Activity (NCAs), and Electronic Staff Record (ESRF).
- Ability to provide clear and precise information for authorising and raising invoices.
- Good negotiation skills and ability to persuade and reach agreement.
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work to financial deadlines and analyse complex financial data.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of legislation affecting finance and accountancy.
