Secondment Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a Trainee Surgical Care Practitioner to work with the breast, plastic and orthopaedic teams in NHS Forth Valley and NHS Lanarkshire.

Training will be provided in University Hospital Wishaw, University Hospital Hairmyres, Forth Valley Royal Hospital and University Hospital Monklands.

The successful candidate will be trained to see and assess new patients presenting to a one stop breast clinic, manage long term follow up and family history patients doing virtual clinics, and perform minor surgical procedures.

They will communicate effectively with the patient and all members of the multidisciplinary team in the MDT, clinics and theatre environment.

The Trainee Surgical Care Practitioner will practice under the supervision or direction of the Consultant Surgeon and a Surgical Care Practitioner mentor whilst undertaking and following the national curriculum framework.

There will be opportunity to do Masters level study in breast examination and to have access to NHS Scotland Academy training courses.

This post will also be considered as in training position under Annex 21 of the Agenda for Change terms & conditions.

The duties of this post require the successful candidate to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
