The Birches Medical Centre is a small but passionate close-knit surgery located in Kesgrave, surrounded by affluent and prosperous areas on the outskirts of Ipswich. Our staff and patients are held with the utmost importance, and we strive daily to look after them to the highest possible standard.
We are pleased to announce our connection with Wolsey PCN, a new collaboration between a select number of GP practices within the local area. This venture offers a significant part of our future GP funding, and the PCN may fund your post, but you will be based with our teams.
Job Summary
We are looking to recruit an experienced Emergency Care Practitioner who is passionate about patient-centred care and wanting to enhance their primary care clinical skills. As an Emergency Care Practitioner for The Birches Medical Centre and Martlesham Heath Surgery, you will be responsible for on-the-day assessment for both health and clinical needs of our patients.
Main Duties of the Job
- Carry out daily consultations with patients or representatives
- Facilitate a comprehensive patient history during the consultation, including physical examinations if necessary
- Use expert knowledge and clinical judgement to identify potential diagnoses
- Decide on and carry out treatment, referring to secondary care within local agreed pathways and protocols as appropriate
- Prescribe medication treatment regimes in accordance with local formularies and practice prescribing protocols, with the ability to review guidelines where applicable or request additional information if not available
About the Role
The remit of our Emergency Care Practitioner will be to work with and on behalf of the Clinical Team at The Birches Medical Centre and Martlesham Heath Surgery. The focus and main responsibilities within the role are to deliver exceptional patient care, directing experience and knowledge to patients with an array of health complaints, from minor/acute problems to chronic/long-term conditions experiencing need for clinical advice.
