Key Responsibilities

The Renewable Energy Solutions Engineer is responsible for:

  1. Conducting feasibility assessments to identify potential renewable energy projects
  2. Carrying out solar resource assessments and energy yield assessments to determine the viability of solar projects
  3. Supporting the techno-economic optimization of solar projects, including solar PV system design and its impact on the balance of system
  4. Conducting miscellaneous analyses in support of project development, including data analysis and modeling
  5. Supporting the procurement team in discussions with suppliers to ensure the best possible outcomes for the company
  6. Conducting ad-hoc analysis and tool development to support the company's renewable energy goals

The Renewable Energy Solutions Engineer may also use their skills and experience to support other areas of the business, in any of our regional markets.

Knowledge and Skills

The ideal candidate will have:

  1. Knowledge of statistics and data analysis
  2. Knowledge of the solar PV industry and the design of utility-scale solar PV projects
Experience

The successful candidate will have:

  1. Experience working on utility-scale solar PV projects, either as a developer, EPC contractor, or technical advisor/owner engineer
  2. Experience with system-wide design, including PV design, string sizing, inverter loading ratios, energy modeling, and layouts
  3. Experience collaborating on multi-disciplinary projects
  4. Experience with PVSyst or other PV simulation software
  5. Experience designing for constructability and installation would be an advantage
  6. Experience in GIS would be an advantage
  7. Experience in a programming language such as Python would be an advantage
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  1. A degree-level qualification in electronics, physics, mathematics, engineering, or a related discipline
  2. Or, a suitable trade/non-vocational background with appropriate experience
