Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary team in Pain Management. The successful candidate will provide clinical input to both the acute in-patient service and the chronic pain management service.

Main Duties
  • Provide clinical input to both the acute in-patient service and the chronic pain management service.
  • Lead the In-patient Acute Pain Service working with a team of Specialist Nurses.
  • Maintain skills and competencies in the anaesthetic management of patients through an unaesthetic theatre session.

The East Lancashire Chronic Pain Management Service is an integral part of the wider Integrated MSK, Pain and Rheumatology Service (IMPReS). It is a specialized multidisciplinary service for adults who have longstanding pain, aiming to improve quality of life through a range of evidence-based approaches.

The In-patient Acute Pain Service provides a comprehensive pain service to all surgical specialties in the Trust, including major vascular, maxillo-facial, ENT, orthopedic, and tertiary hepato-biliary surgery.

Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities

The post will facilitate the provision of care to chronic and acute pain patients and leadership for the inpatient acute pain service. The work split will be approximately 6.5 sessions for chronic pain management and 3.5 sessions for the inpatient acute pain service.

Person Specification
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council.
  • FRCA or equivalent (included on the GMC's Specialist Register in Anesthetics).
  • Clinical Experience and training equivalent to Advanced Specialist Training in Pain Medicine.
  • ACLS/ALS.
Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent clinical skills, including community care and hospital-based practice.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, and good networking skills.
  • Ability to motivate, inspire, and support a multiprofessional team.
  • Ability to work constructively with other agencies.
