Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant Specialist to join our team at a bespoke Specialist School, supporting children aged 11-16 with SEMH needs. The right candidate will have the ability to create a warm, caring, and supportive environment, promoting independence and personal development in pupils. Key duties include establishing a positive relationship with pupils, contributing to providing high-quality educational activities, and supporting the Class Teacher in the day-to-day running of the class.



Key Responsibilities:


  • Support pupils with their learning and general wellbeing, ensuring every child has the best opportunity to reach their full potential in a caring and safe environment.
  • Promote and encourage independence and personal development in pupils, maintaining high expectations of behaviour at all times.
  • Contribute to providing high-quality, challenging, and differentiated educational activities and experiences through supporting the teaching of a broad and balanced curriculum.
  • Support the Class Teacher in all areas of the day-to-day running of the class, including responding to the varying and changing needs of the school.
  • Promote pupils' cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, physical development, and spiritual wellbeing.


Requirements:


  • A GCSE (or equivalent qualification) pass in Maths and English is essential.
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, with knowledge or experience of pupils with SEN or SEMH/ASD.
  • Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
  • Commitment to the role, a desire to put the child first, and treat them as an individual.
  • Be positive and creative in meeting pupils' needs.
