Special Education Support Assistant

Annual Salary: £20,941.30 - £22,835.30 (dependent on experience) Plus £1000 Welcome Bonus*
Hours: 40 per week, Term Time only
We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a Specialist School supporting children aged 11-16 with SEMH needs based in Berkeley.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish a positive and supportive relationship with pupils to ensure they feel safe and engaged in their learning.
- Promote independence and personal development in pupils, maintaining high expectations of behaviour at all times.
- Contribute to delivering high-quality educational activities and experiences, supporting the teaching of a broad and balanced curriculum to enable pupils to achieve their full potential.
- Support the Class Teacher in the day-to-day running of the class, responding to the varying needs of the school and adapting to tasks as required.
- Promote pupils' cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, physical development, and spiritual well-being.
- Work collaboratively within a multi-professional team, under the guidance of a more senior TA or teacher, to ensure accurate documentation of incidents, health, behaviour, etc.
Requirements:
- A GCSE (or equivalent qualification) pass in Maths and English is essential.
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant is required.
- Understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures is necessary.
- Knowledge or experience of working with pupils with SEN or SEMH/ASD is desirable.
- A commitment to the role, a desire to put the child first, and treat them as an individual is essential.
- Be positive and creative in meeting pupils' needs.
