About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Community Support Specialist to join our team in the Brynmawr Area, supporting individuals transitioning from long-term psychiatric care back to independent living within their local community.

This rewarding role involves working closely with service users to secure tenancy, build relationships, and empower them to live independently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide front-line support to service users based throughout the Gwent Area, responding to their unique needs and requirements.
  • Work closely with service users to administer medication (training provided), ensuring they have choice and control over their care.
  • Support service users with practical tasks such as attending medical appointments, community activities, emotional regulation, problem-solving, and relationship building.
Requirements
  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or willingness to work towards it.
  • Training in medication administration will be supplied.
  • Able to build trusting relationships with service users, understanding the importance of setting safe boundaries and expectations.
  • High level of emotional intelligence, being non-judgemental, resilient, and empathetic, with strong communication skills.
  • Understanding of PIE, ACEs, and strength/restorative-based approaches.
  • Experience advocating for service users and representing their needs.
  • Previous experience working with individuals with complex mental health needs, disrupted attachments, interpersonal difficulties, and challenging behaviour.
