Senior Governance and Controls Strategist

Amazon TA is looking for a highly experienced Senior Governance and Controls Strategist to join our International Indirect Tax (ITX) controllership team. The ideal candidate will have significant experience with tax controllership in either an advisory capacity and/or a controllership environment and possess strong technical accounting awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Working with the ITX controllership team to implement strategies to improve controls and reduce indirect tax risk to Amazon.
  • Defining, implementing, testing, and continuously improving the governance and control framework that effectively mitigates the indirect tax risk for Amazon.
  • Performing key systems and process assurance reviews to identify gaps and associated indirect tax risk, working with systems and process owners to design actions to close identified gaps.
  • Actively working as part of teams supporting major cross-functional project launches end-to-end, from scoping through testing and launch.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in indirect tax (VAT, GST), with a public accounting firm, major law firm, or in industry.
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to deep dive into complex processes, ask questions, and present conclusions in writing.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • The role requires exceptional people skills to actively work alongside members of the controllership team and partner with other tax, business, finance, and technology teams.

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per annum based on location and experience.
