Job Summary

The Ministry of Defence is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sailing Instructor to join our team at the Joint Services Adventurous Sail Training Centre. As a Sailing Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering offshore sailing training to the Army, Royal Navy, and Royal Air Force personnel, developing their leadership and resilience skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver on-water training ranging from Competent Crew to Yachtmaster, depending on your qualifications and experience.
  • Manage boat maintenance and ensure the centre's vessels are in good working order.
  • Develop and deliver on-shore training programs, working closely with qualified engineering staff.
  • Provide individual induction and team training programs to ensure instructors are equipped to deliver training in line with Army Adventurous Training ethos.
Requirements
  • Royal Yacht Association Yachtmaster Offshore qualification with a Maritime and Coastguard Agency Commercial Endorsement.
  • ML5 Medical certificate and Royal Yacht Association First Aid certificate.
  • VHF Operators Licence and experience working in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work independently, using your own initiative, with a flexible and proactive approach to work.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience of working in a team.
