An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Senior Sister/Charge Nurse to join our dynamic team in the Emergency Department at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust.

About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating the effective management and movement of patients through the emergency acute care areas, combining clinical expertise, staff utilization, and resource management to ensure high-quality patient care.
As a clinical expert and role model, the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse will provide leadership and guidance to the team, promoting excellence in clinical care, teaching, and professional development.
Key Responsibilities- Establish and maintain effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
- Communicate effectively with the multi-disciplinary team to encourage learning and improvement
- Adapt interpersonal and communication skills to multiple and/or simultaneous situations
- Communicate professionally and effectively in hostile, antagonistic, or highly emotive environments
- Lead on communication for the department on a shift-to-shift basis

Person Specification- NMC registration with current PIN
- Minimum of 3 years emergency care experience
- Substantial experience at Band 6 in an acute care setting
- Evidence of academic qualification relating to Emergency Care
- Mentorship course
- Emergency Care Pathway
- Leadership experience
- Evidence of having championed diversity in previous roles
- Evidence of having undertaken own development to improve understanding of equalities issues
