About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Support Assistant to join our team at a vibrant primary school in Salford. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in helping children (ages 4-11) navigate the complexities of school life and develop the skills they need to succeed.

Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide emotional and academic guidance to students, helping them build confidence, self-esteem, and coping strategies.
  • Use positive techniques to manage challenging behaviour, creating a calm and respectful learning environment.
  • Be a positive role model, inspiring students with your own behaviour, communication, and social skills.
  • Work with teachers and therapists to adapt learning plans that suit each student's unique needs.
  • Lead activities that develop social skills, resilience, and emotional regulation, helping students form positive relationships and a strong self-image.
  • Build trust with students and foster a safe and supportive environment where they feel valued and heard.
  • Collaborate with teachers, social workers, and therapists to provide holistic, tailored support for each student's growth.
  • Bring energy and creativity to the classroom with engaging activities that help students reconnect with the joy of learning.

  • Strong communication, empathy, patience, and resilience. You're confident handling challenging behaviour and understand the importance of positive reinforcement.
  • Experience working with SEMH students is a plus, but we welcome anyone with a heart for helping vulnerable young people.
  • A commitment to being a constant, reliable presence in your students' lives.
