About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Support Worker to join our team at our SEMH Secondary School in Salford. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in delivering targeted support to secondary-aged students, promoting their emotional resilience, and fostering positive mental health and well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one support and mentoring to students, addressing their social, emotional, and mental health concerns in a non-judgmental and empathetic manner.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies to develop and implement personalized support plans tailored to each student's specific needs and circumstances.
  • Deliver structured interventions and therapeutic activities aimed at enhancing students' emotional regulation, self-esteem, and interpersonal skills.
  • Monitor and evaluate students' progress, maintaining detailed records and reports to track outcomes and inform future support strategies.
  • Act as a trusted advocate and ally for students, advocating for their needs and rights, and facilitating communication between home and school as required.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working with adolescents in a mental health, educational, or youth work setting, particularly those with SEMH needs, is highly desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trusting relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of adolescent development and understanding of the impact of social, emotional, and mental health difficulties on learning and behavior.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, demonstrate resilience, and effectively manage challenging situations with sensitivity and professionalism.
