Job Summary

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team in the acute hospital setting. As a Staff Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver excellent outcomes.

Main Responsibilities

Participate in maintaining a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and carers
Determine nursing priorities and plan patient care, informing the nurse in charge of any changes
Maintain nursing records in accordance with NMC and Trust guidelines
Contribute to the development of Essence of Care and clinical benchmarking within the unit
Ensure due regard is given to customs, values, and spiritual beliefs of patients
Provide information and support to patients and carers, ensuring all involved in care are aware of changes in patient condition
Assist in the safe custody, checking, and administration of drugs
Develop clinical knowledge and skills to care for acutely ill patients admitted via planned and unplanned routes
Undertake expanded practice, under supervision, to optimize patient care and in accordance with ward/department and Trust policies
Involve patients and carers in the planning and delivering of care
Ensure effective lines of communication within the ward/department multidisciplinary team

Person Specification

Qualifications

Registered Nurse, current NMC registration
Diploma in Nursing
Desirable
Mentorship/teaching qualification
Post-registration qualification in relevant specialty

Experience

Essential
Post-registration experience and successful completion of band 5 foundation gateway competencies
Experience within relevant clinical setting
Evidence of maintaining a clinical learning environment
Evidence of working with students
Desirable
Recent acute hospital experience (including as a student nurse)
