Senior Clinical Pharmacist, Endocrine & Diabetes Specialist

This is an innovative new role that will focus on implementing and leading pharmacist-led clinics in the management of hyperlipidaemia using novel medication. The post holder will join the forward-thinking and progressive Pharmacy department at a leading NHS hospital, where they will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient-centred care.

We are looking for a Band 8a Senior Clinical Pharmacist specialising in Endocrine and Diabetes to join our team. Our Pharmacists are highly respected members of the team, and you could join us to support the delivery of medicines optimisation through clinical excellence.

Main duties of the job
  • To implement and lead pharmacist-led clinics for the treatment of hyperlipidaemia, working closely with the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • To provide a specialist clinical pharmacy service to clinics and specialist areas, with a particular focus on endocrine and diabetes, and to provide daily clinical pharmacy support to designated wards.
  • To provide clinical and financial management on Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) and Hybrid Closed Loop treatments, and to lead a range of schemes for the Medicines Optimisation Waste Reduction Programme.
  • To work closely with the team to develop and implement initiatives that reduce waste and improve patient outcomes.
  • Pharmacy Degree.
  • Post-graduate Diploma from an approved clinical pharmacy scheme, or equivalent experience.
  • Membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
Experience
  • Experience as a practicing clinical pharmacist within an acute hospital trust, with a focus on endocrine and diabetes.
  • Analysis and management of drug expenditure, and experience in delivering risk reduction initiatives.
