Job Description

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Front Line Operations Manager to join our team at Hovis. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for leading and supporting a safe, multi-disciplined shift team in the manufacture of high-quality bakery products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure Safety and Quality: Lead by example to deliver a zero-accident culture and ensure all areas under your control adhere to relevant health and safety and environmental legislation, rules, and standards.
  • Maximize Performance: Action and support the team to exceed all defined KPIs for the shift, including quality, capacity, waste reduction, yield, and labor.
  • Enhance Controls and Processes: Continuously improve the performance of the plant and enhance controls, processes, and systems where possible.
  • Team Leadership: Lead from the front in a flexible and committed manner, conducting performance management for direct reports and promoting high standards of GMP at all times.
  • Customer Focus: Participate in customer visits, audits, and technical meetings to ensure all areas under your control adhere to the appropriate standards of food safety, hygiene, and compliance.

Requirements:

  • Relevant Experience: Relevant management/supervisory experience in a FMCG environment, with a strong understanding of manufacturing best practice tools and techniques.
  • Team Leadership: Proven team leadership experience, with excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to lead by example.
  • Financial Acumen: Understanding of financial measures, controls, and day-to-day data, with excellent IT skills (Microsoft Office).
  • Desirable Qualifications: Food or drink manufacturing experience, basic food hygiene certificate, basic health and safety qualifications, knowledge of HACCP, and experience of ERP systems (SAP or equivalent).
