Job Description

SEND Teaching Assistant - Shrewsbury

Milk Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team in a Primary School in Chester.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and flexible individual to make a positive impact on the lives of children with complex needs and/or Autism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and preparing learning activities to support lesson plans and learning outcomes.
  • Prepare and clear up activities with pupils, ensuring a safe and engaging environment.
  • Supervise individual or small groups of pupils, coordinating and explaining instructions for activities.
  • Monitor learning progress and inform teachers of achievements.
  • Support pupils in developing their independence.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Work with individuals or groups of children to support subjects and learning across the curriculum.
  • Establish supportive relationships with children, promoting respect, self-esteem, and a positive school ethos.
  • Develop knowledge of specific needs and respond effectively.
  • Support class teachers in designing learning activities and materials.
  • Help and motivate children, clarifying instructions and encouraging independent learning.

Requirements:

Applicants must have experience working with SEND children within the last two years.
