Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Support Assistant to join our team in Chester. As a Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with complex needs, including Autism and severe and profound and multiple learning difficulties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized support to pupils with complex needs, promoting their social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Assist teachers and other support staff in creating a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Develop and implement strategies to support pupils with challenging behavior, working closely with the school's behavior management team.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, including therapists and healthcare staff, to ensure comprehensive support for pupils.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior support plans.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or adults with additional needs, preferably in a special education setting.
  • Qualifications in childcare or SEND, or willingness to pursue further education in this area.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team, communicating with colleagues, teachers, and parents to ensure seamless support for pupils.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions to support pupils with complex needs.
  • Commitment to the protection of children and vulnerable adults, with a willingness to undergo a full enhanced DBS check.
