Summary

The core purpose of the role is to lead strategically on learning and teaching, with a focus on innovation and digital strategy, ensuring a tailored approach for every pupil.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement learning and teaching strategies that reflect the School's ethos and promote interdependent learning and creative thinking.
  2. Oversee quality assurance and lead innovative whole-school projects to enhance the School's educational offerings.
  3. Evaluate current learning experiences using evidence-based research.
  4. Collaborate with the Vice Principal (Academic) on curriculum matters.
  5. Design professional development offerings that promote outstanding learning.
  6. Manage the development of assessment, reporting, and tracking in the Senior School.
  7. Stay updated on relevant research and technologies for monitoring pupil progress.
  8. Implement effective reporting systems and coordinate reporting processes.
  9. Analyze test data and exam results.
  10. Develop a common approach to tracking pupil progress and collaborate on academic intervention strategies.
  11. Mentor Heads of Department and oversee the coordination and monitoring of homework.
  12. Promote digital literacy among pupils and staff and share best practices for technology and AI in learning.
  13. Keep staff updated on digital education trends and collaborate with staff to enhance digital technology use.
  14. Develop AI training plans and advocate for AI to support staff wellbeing.
  15. Ensure data protection compliance.
  16. Participate in promoting the school to various stakeholders and be involved in events and pupil and staff recruitment.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Vice Principal role at Surbiton High School would have:

  1. A good first degree and a postgraduate teaching qualification.
  2. Evidence of continuous professional development.
  3. Dynamic leadership and strong communication and organisational skills.
  4. A passion for digital innovation and AI, along with a commitment to innovative teaching methods.

  6. The ability to promote the School to parents and the local community.
