Job Title: Learning Support Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at Staffline Recruitment (NI) Ltd. in Ballymena. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing support to young people with learning disabilities, helping them to achieve their goals and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide specialist support to young people with learning disabilities, tailored to their individual needs and goals.
  • Prepare and adapt training and support materials to make them user-friendly and differentiated for each young person.
  • Assist the Disability Support Services Co-ordinator with monitoring and evidencing progress against performance targets.
  • Provide weekly and monthly updates to the DSS Co-ordinator on young people's progress through engagement records.
  • Stimulate and promote effective, learner-centred independent learning strategies to enhance motivation and self-esteem.
  • Maintain a confidential and effective system for processing and maintaining internal documentation.
Requirements:
  • 5 GCSEs at grade C or equivalent, including English and Maths.
  • A minimum of 1 year's experience in a similar role supporting people with learning disabilities in a group environment or one-to-one setting.
  • Effective 1:1 mentoring and motivational skills to encourage participants to undertake positive actions.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable, with hours that may include evening and weekend work as required.
  • Ability to demonstrate administrative skills with good record-keeping and IT skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Social Media use.
  • Knowledge of statutory services and relevant legislation, especially child protection and safeguarding.
  • Understanding of the barriers faced by people with learning disabilities.
  • A full current driving license and access to a car.
Desirable Criteria:
  • Experience of working in a learning environment.
  • A Level 3 Qualification.

Please note that successful applicants will be required to undertake an Access NI Disclosure check at a cost of £16/32. A person's criminal record will not, in itself, debar that person from being appointed to this post. Any information given will be treated in the strictest confidence.

Hours of Work: Every Tuesday from 9:30am - 3:30pm. Rate of Pay: £12.94 per hour plus stipend of £6.50 per day for completion of administrative purposes. Job Type: Part-Time Temporary.
