Job Title: Classroom Assistant - Special Educational Needs

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Classroom Assistant to join our team at the Education Authority. As a Classroom Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of children with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist teachers in the classroom to ensure a child-centred learning experience
  • Support children with special educational needs in a formal learning environment
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with children, teachers, and other staff members
  • Contribute to the creation of a safe and inclusive learning environment
Requirements:
  • Minimum of six months' experience working with children in a formal learning environment
  • Working knowledge of information technology systems, including Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Demonstrable knowledge of child development issues, health and safety requirements, and the requirements of a Classroom Assistant (special educational needs)
  • Ability to work flexibly and creatively to support children's learning
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven team working and collaborative skills
Desirable Criteria:
  • Minimum of one year's experience working with children with special educational needs
  • Experience working as a Classroom Assistant with children with special educational needs
