About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mental Health Specialist to join our team at Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our innovative psychology-led multi-agency team, you will play a vital role in providing mental health support to children and young people in and around their educational setting.

Main Responsibilities
  • Supporting the Senior Mental Health Lead: Collaborate with the Senior Mental Health Lead to further develop the whole school emotional wellbeing and trauma-informed offer.
  • Delivering Interventions: Deliver group and one-to-one evidence-based, theory-informed interventions to support the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people.
  • Resource Development: Develop resources and training for school staff, children and young people, and parents and carers to promote mental health and wellbeing.
  • Mentoring and Supervision: Offer mentoring, supervision, and training to Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) within the team.
  • Leadership Role: Take a specific lead role within the service, working closely with the Senior Mental Health Lead and other team members to achieve service goals.
  • Reporting and Recording: Record and report on activity and outcomes, ensuring accurate and timely reporting to stakeholders.
  • Clinical Risk Management: Work at all times within the guidance provided by the employer to manage clinical risk and safeguarding procedures, ensuring good clinical governance.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: CYP IAPT CWP supervisor training or willingness to undertake it, evidence of further training in one other psychological intervention, and a qualification or substantial experience in Professional Supervision.
  • Experience: A minimum of four years' experience of working with children and young people with common mental health problems, demonstrable post-qualifying experience (2 years) in developing and delivering evidence-based low-intensity interventions, and experience of working with parents/carers, planning and delivering whole school emotional wellbeing activities, delivering training to a range of professionals, and communicating evidence-based theory-led information to diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Theoretical and practical clinical knowledge of Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, working knowledge of how Mental Health Support Teams can contribute to early intervention and prevention in children and young people's mental health, and understanding of the need to meet national and local KPIs and fulfill reporting requirements.
