About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at GSL Education. As a SEN Teaching Assistant - Speech and Language Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting students with communication difficulties in a primary school setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with speech and language difficulties, working closely with our SENCO and teaching staff to develop tailored support plans.
  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and personalized learning strategies to help students overcome barriers to learning.
  • Assist students in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities, promoting inclusive learning environments.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to monitor student progress and adjust support strategies as needed.
  • Support the development of speech and language skills through targeted interventions and activities, utilizing evidence-based practices.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and participation, ensuring effective communication with parents/carers and other stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with speech and language difficulties is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of all students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to meet the needs of students and the school.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection protocols.
