Job Overview:

As a Support Educator for Key Stage 3 and 4, your primary responsibility will be to assist students within a classroom environment. You will play a crucial role in supporting teachers, managing student behaviour, and providing individualized assistance to those who need extra help.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with teachers to facilitate lesson delivery and support student engagement.
  • Help maintain a positive and productive learning atmosphere by managing student behaviour.
  • Offer personalized support to students requiring additional assistance with their educational tasks.
  • Contribute to the preparation of educational materials and resources.
  • Oversee students during non-classroom activities, including break times.
Essential Qualifications:
  • A relevant qualification in teaching assistance.
  • Experience working with children or young adults.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Prior experience in supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) and autism, particularly in a secondary educational context.
  • Relevant certifications in education, SEN, or autism support (e.g., Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, Autism Awareness certification).
  • In-depth knowledge of SEN and autism, along with effective support strategies.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to aiding students with SEN and autism.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
Educational Requirements:

A minimum of GCSEs in English and Maths is required.

Experience:

Prior experience in an educational setting is preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Familiarity with the Key Stage 3 and 4 curriculum.
  • Ability to effectively manage challenging behaviour.
  • Strong organizational capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • First Aid Certification.
  • Training in safeguarding practices.
Working Conditions:

This is a temporary full-time role based in Braintree, Essex. You will be expected to work during school hours and may need to attend training sessions or staff meetings outside of regular hours.
