Position Overview:

As a Support Educator for Key Stage 3 and 4, your primary responsibility will be to assist learners within a school environment. This role entails collaborating with teachers to enhance the educational experience, managing student behavior, and providing tailored support to those in need.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with educators to facilitate lesson delivery and support student engagement.
  • Assist in managing student behavior to foster a constructive learning atmosphere.
  • Offer individualized support to students requiring extra assistance with their studies.
  • Help prepare educational materials and resources for classroom activities.
  • Supervise students during non-classroom activities, including breaks.
Essential Qualifications:
  • A relevant qualification in educational support.
  • Experience working with children or young individuals.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Prior experience as a Support Educator, particularly with students with special educational needs (SEN) and autism, is preferred.
  • Relevant certifications in education, SEN, or autism support (e.g., Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, Autism Awareness certification).
  • Comprehensive understanding of SEN and autism, along with effective support strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a sincere commitment to assisting students with SEN and autism.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Educational Requirements:

A minimum of GCSEs in English and Maths is required.

Experience:

Experience in an educational setting is desirable.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Familiarity with the Key Stage 3 and 4 curriculum.
  • Ability to effectively manage challenging behavior.
  • Strong organizational capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • First Aid Certification.
  • Training in safeguarding practices.
Working Conditions:

This is a temporary full-time role based in Braintree, Essex. You will be expected to work during school hours and may need to attend training sessions or staff meetings outside of regular hours.
