Job Description:
We are partnering with a leading Global Telecomms company to find a skilled Transport and Transmission Specialist for their RAN RFP activity. As a key member of the project team, you will provide day-to-day support and expertise in the transport and transmission aspects of the RAN solutions proposed by prospective suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the project team in identifying and documenting transport-related and transmission-related requirements for inclusion in the RAN solutions.
- Provide clarifications in response to questions from prospective suppliers, attend presentations, and evaluate/rate their responses.
- Help convert the responses of successful suppliers into contractual statements.
Requirements:
- Experience in supporting RFx activities or other techno-commercial activities as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and subject lead.
- Understanding of 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G (NSA and SA) RAN architectures, including network elements, logical interfaces, and traffic types.
- Knowledge of access transport solutions used within a mobile operator's RAN, such as E-Line and IP VPN.
- Good working knowledge of Ethernet fundamentals, including electrical and optical Ethernet interface specifications, frame structure, MAC addressing, and Layer 2 switching.
- Good working knowledge of IP fundamentals, including packet structure, IP addressing, Layer 3 routing, VPNs, and QoS mechanisms.
- Understanding of IP transport protocols, such as UDP, TCP, SCTP, and RTP/RTCP.
- Understanding of transport-related synchronization techniques, including SyncE and ToP/PTP.
- Understanding of the IPsec architecture and protocols.
