Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Family Support Specialist to join our team at Welcare. As a Family Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in delivering a broad-based preventative support service for families with children up to the age of 13 in partnership with schools, churches, the local authority, and other agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Programme Promotion and Referral Management: Promote the programmes of work and manage the external and internal referral process, including the assessment of need, risk, and safeguarding concerns.
- Casework and Intervention: Hold a caseload of 4 families delivering targeted interventions, including one-to-one support and group work programmes.
- Community Group Work: Lead and facilitate community group work programmes, including the #CapeAbility in Schools programme, which aims to build resilience and self-esteem for children in key stage 2.
- Groupwork Programmes: Lead and facilitate groupwork programmes for parents, such as Strengthening Families Strengthening Communities and Child Overcoming Domestic Abuse.
- Safeguarding: Safeguard the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults you work with directly and take appropriate action if escalation is needed.
- Support and Advocacy: Provide practical and emotional support to families or advocacy and signposting to specialist and universal services where appropriate.
- Child and Family Voice: Ensure that the voices and views of children and young people are sought, heard, and represented appropriately.
- Multi-Agency Collaboration: Attend designated meetings with multi-agency professionals and act as lead professional where appropriate to support the Team Around the Child/Family or Early Help Assessment (EHA).
Requirements:
- Experience working with families and children aged 0-13.
- Good understanding of the needs of vulnerable families.
- Relevant vocational or academic qualification.
- Local knowledge of Bromley and Greenwich areas an advantage.
