Role/Department:

The First Line of Defense - Operational Resilience Governance Lead will play a pivotal role in supporting the Operational Resilience Program at Northern Trust. This position will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining our resilience strategy, governance, policies, and reporting. This will enable effective governance, clear accountability, and strategic decision-making, ultimately enhancing our ability to adapt, respond, recover, and learn from disruptions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Operational Resilience Stakeholders and the Non-Financial Risk Function to develop and maintain the Operational Resilience Framework and associated strategies.
  • Analyze and collectively manage resilience efforts to achieve business outcomes for the resilience program.
  • Engage with senior leaders and relevant SMEs across Business Units to establish and own resilience frameworks, policies, standards, and reporting.
  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of resilience frameworks, policies, standards, and frameworks that align with business objectives.
  • Develop and implement key performance indicators across Operational Resilience aligned with key risk indicators as part of Northern Trust's overall risk appetite.
  • Identify, review, prioritize, monitor, and report on multiple capabilities, milestones, and tasks across the lines of business.

Skills/Experience:

  • Working knowledge of relevant standards and regulations, such as ISO22301 and FCA/PRA/BoE, and other country-specific regulators' publications related to Operational Resilience.
  • Several years of experience in the financial services industry, with prior experience working specifically within operational resiliency.
  • Experience managing related teams, setting team priorities, and allocating resources to align with business objectives.
  • Significant experience in Program Governance, Project Management, and Financial Services.
  • In-depth knowledge of business, technology, and risk management.
  • Highly flexible and adaptable to change, self-motivated, and able to independently drive results.
