Job Title: Head of Programmes, Strategy and Improvement

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and skilled professional to lead our Adult Social Care Improvement Programme. As Head of Programmes, Strategy and Improvement, you will play a crucial role in delivering our vision for Adult Social Care, working closely with the Corporate Director, Directors, elected members, and other senior managers to drive strategic change and improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective strategies to improve Adult Social Care services, ensuring alignment with the council's 2030 plan and the CQC Local Authority inspection framework.
  • Lead the ASC Improvement Team, providing strong and motivational leadership to drive programme delivery and service improvement.
  • Support the development and delivery of Adult Social Care improvement priority projects, including inspection preparation and response.
  • Oversee the department's communication and coproduction approach, ensuring alignment with the corporate strategy and priorities.
  • Provide advice to the Corporate Director and Elected Members on statutory and other regulatory requirements and the development of policy.
  • Take lead responsibility for inspection readiness and peer reviews across the directorate, supporting divisions to ensure teams are prepared and confident for statutory inspections.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience of running successful programmes and projects, managing risk and assurance programmes, and delivering effective governance.
  • Evidence of a track record of successfully operating as a leader in a large, complex setting, demonstrating political awareness and the ability to create effective working relationships with elected members.
