Job Description

**Job Title:** Workshop Engineer/Manager - Technical Production Specialist

**Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Workshop Engineer/Manager to join our team at Production Futures. As a key member of our technical production team, you will be responsible for the daily management of our service department, staff recruitment, performance reviews, and adherence to company and industry health and safety regulations.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Manage the daily operations of the service department, ensuring efficient and effective maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Recruit, train, and develop a team of skilled technicians to support the service department.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and appraisals to ensure team members are meeting performance expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with all company and industry health and safety regulations, including fire precautions and emergency procedures.
  • Manage the maintenance, test, and repair of equipment, including electrical and LOLER inspections.
  • Develop and implement cost-effective repair and maintenance strategies to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Liaise with manufacturers to obtain product-specific training for the workshop team.
  • Ensure equipment is quickly returned to service to minimize impact on bookings.
  • Maintain accurate records of repair costs and time spent on repairs.
  • Work with suppliers to obtain replacement parts and service information as required.
  • Carry out manufacturer and product upgrades as required.
  • Liaise with the asset manager to ensure all equipment is properly maintained and tested.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workshop environment, ensuring walkways are clear of obstructions.
  • Identify and undertake appropriate training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Act as an ambassador for Production Futures, representing the company at exhibitions, meetings, and events.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality at all times.

**Essential Requirements:**

  • Good communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues, industry professionals, suppliers, and customers.
  • Previous experience in service work with equipment in the entertainment industry.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair equipment across the full range of IPS inventory.
  • Methodical approach with excellent attention to detail to accurately work with varied equipment inventory.
  • Punctual, reliable, and able to work independently and as part of a team, often to tight deadlines.
  • Practical qualifications, such as PAT test certification or relevant C&G testing certificates, are desirable but not essential.
  • Understanding of the physical and technical demands of the role.
  • Self-motivated, interested in learning about the industry and new and existing equipment.
  • Passport and eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Basic maths and computer skills required.
