About the Role

We are seeking a talented Paralegal to join our Court of Protection team at Irwin Mitchell. As a Paralegal, you will play a crucial role in supporting the deputy in managing the property and affairs of individuals who have lost capacity due to serious illnesses or elderly clients with conditions such as dementia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the deputy in managing caseloads and ensuring seamless service to clients;
  • Work across multiple caseloads at any one time, with autonomy to act on matters in line with the best interest of clients;
  • Develop and maintain excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively communicate with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders;
  • Contribute to business development opportunities, including converting warm leads into new business;
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver the best outcomes for clients in a timely manner and within budget.

About You

We are looking for a Paralegal with a personable nature, who thinks critically, enjoys solving problems, and has a passion for Court of Protection matters. Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Fee-earning Paralegal experience with specialist COP experience;
  • Demonstratable experience of excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • The ability to operate with integrity, show empathy, and adapt in different environments;
  • Demonstratable understanding of the litigation processes alongside Court of Protection matters;
  • Experience managing caseloads while maintaining exceptional attention to detail and seamless service;
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively with colleagues to deliver the best outcomes for clients in a timely manner and within budget.
