Main Responsibilities

The Head of Clinical Services will be responsible for ensuring the quality and standards of care delivered in the service meet the fundamental standards of the Care Quality Commission (CQC) or relevant statutory bodies.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Managing the provision of care services within the delegated budget, to agreed service specifications and to defined outcome measures.
  • Line management responsibility across all clinical services.
  • Working alongside and/or supporting volunteers within their team.
  • Fostering good working relationships with internal stakeholders: Service Director, Direct reports, Medical Teams, Other Heads of Clinical Services, Clinical Quality Team.
  • Fostering good working relationships with external stakeholders: Local CQC/ Care Inspectorate inspector and Quality Lead for Integrated Care Board (ICB), Partner organisations.
Main Responsibilities (continued)

The post is responsible for:

  • Managing the budget for the day-to-day provision of care services, including the effective use of resources and control of expenditure within care areas.
  • Highlighting risks which impact care, experience or safety and ensuring that risks are managed, mitigated, and reported upon.
  • Ensuring that clinical services meet relevant Care Standards Act, Environmental Standards and Health and Safety requirements.
  • Functioning as a role model within the multi-disciplinary team, demonstrating advanced knowledge and experience through excellent leadership skills.
  • Deputising for the Service Director where appropriate, including responsibility for Senior Management Team on call.
About You

We are looking for a Registered Nurse with a master's degree level or equivalent relevant experience, who has a relevant management qualification or equivalent experience.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Extensive relevant clinical experience with demonstrable management, supervision, and leadership skills.
  • Committed to improving clinical care and able to work autonomously, demonstrate initiative, and possess advanced communication and strong organisational skills.
  • Experience of working effectively with committees and groups and a demonstrable ability to work across professional and organisational boundaries.
  • Experience of service development and successful change management, having taken the lead in at least one specific change project.
