HR Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented HR Assistant to support our HR Director in planning, developing, and implementing human resources activities, policies, and procedures throughout the business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with staffing activities, maintaining records to conform to UK regulations, and fulfilling equal opportunities responsibilities.
  • Support training and employee development programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
  • Contribute to performance appraisal programs to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity.
  • Help ensure HR functions comply with legal requirements and government reporting regulations.
  • Assist with the implementation of HR policies and procedures; maintain the Employee Handbook.
  • Manage department records and report filing, including HR, Health and Safety, and Environmental data.
  • Conduct inductions for new starters and process leavers.
  • Attend meetings as the HR representative.
  • Assist with the Health & Safety and Green Committees, meetings, and follow through with actions where necessary.
  • Support the administration of compensation programs and assist with payroll administration.
  • Respond to benefits-related inquiries and participate in annual open enrolment communication and audits.
Requirements:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative.
  • Good working knowledge of the MS Office suite; experience with Sage HR is advantageous.
  • Ability to establish and reassess priorities and work to deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to build great working relationships at all levels.
  • Committed to continuous improvement.
  • Working towards or willing to start working towards a CIPD Qualification.
  • Previous HR experience is advantageous.
