About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team at McCormick & Company's condiments manufacturing facility in Peterborough, UK. As a key member of our Engineering team, you will play a vital role in the development and maintenance of our factory-of-the-future.

Main Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain plant and equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with AIB, EFSIS, and GMP standards.
  • Collaborate with production and quality teams to improve operating practices and enhance product quality and customer service.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste and energy consumption.
  • Work closely with external engineers, contractors, and vendors to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Ensure the safety of our products and employees by adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Manage small and large projects, including estimating, requisitioning, and inspecting equipment.
  • Prepare and present reports to stakeholders on project progress and outcomes.

Requirements

  • Minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Proven experience in the food or consumer products industry, with a strong track record of acquiring engineering skills and continuous learning.
  • Good understanding of inter-discipline skills and multi-skilling.
  • A solid grounding in food handling safe practices and awareness of HACCP, PUWER, LOLA, and COSHH.
  • Working knowledge of AC/DC drives and associated control equipment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deal with suppliers and internal customers.
  • PC literate, with experience of MS Word, Lotus Notes, and Excel Spreadsheets.
  • Problem-solving and fault-finding skills, with the ability to interpret schematic diagrams.
  • Able to work on own initiative and highlight continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude towards work and colleagues, with the ability to work in a team.
