Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Supervisor to join our team at the University of Brighton. As a Technical Supervisor, you will provide technical support and supervision to a range of research activities within the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and supervision to research activities, including manufacturing, assembling, installing, and machining bespoke components to various specifications.
  • Coordinate a small team of technicians and provide training in all aspects of the role.
  • Deliver a high-quality service to staff and research projects, ensuring timely and efficient completion of tasks.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement new research projects and initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain a safe working environment.

Requirements

  • Experience in the field of automotive, mechanical assembly, and/or electrical/electronic engineering.
  • Machine and mechanical assembly skills, including the use of lathes and milling machines.
  • Fabrication knowledge and ability to work with a variety of materials.
  • Good understanding of health and safety protocols and procedures.
  • Self-motivated and able to work individually and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to accurately convey technical information to a range of audiences.
