The University of Glasgow is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Hub Manager to lead the UK Quantum Enhanced Position, Navigation and Timing Hub. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth delivery of the hub's objectives and will play a key role in shaping the future of quantum technology in the UK.
Main Responsibilities- To develop and implement the hub's strategic framework, working closely with the hub leadership team and stakeholders.
- To provide operational management of the hub, including assessing project needs, preparing timelines, and ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met.
- To lead the hub's operational and business development teams, providing direction and guidance to ensure alignment with the hub's objectives.
- To engage with new opportunities and deliver value to the research and partner communities.
- To develop and maintain an accurate spend profile for the project, ensuring partner spend plans and commitments are delivered within budget.
- To manage close working links with the EPSRC's appointed programme manager, ensuring integration of University and EPSRC timelines.
- To identify and resolve complex issues using specialist knowledge and initiative.
- To develop and regularly review performance against the hub's key performance indicators (KPIs), producing collated reports and managing the risk framework.
- To ensure effective communications with all stakeholders, including consultation and management of expectations.
- To prepare and deliver written and oral reports on finances and project outcomes for the hub management board, funders, and other stakeholders.
- To support hub management engagement with the hub independent advisory board and strategic advisory board.
- To line manage the hub communications, marketing, and outreach manager and hub finance coordinator.
- To develop and maintain relationships with key professional services staff within the University and other HEIs to ensure efficient delivery of hub objectives.
- To engage with UK Government Departments and Agencies to ensure the programme is aligned to Government policy and supporting Government needs.
- A1 Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associated with this level of post, having acquired the necessary professional knowledge and management skills in a similar or number of different specialist roles.
- A2 Comprehensive working knowledge of financial management, with an ability to manage and control budgets, analyse financial data.
- A3 In-depth knowledge and understanding of project/programme management methodologies.
- A4 Well-developed understanding of policies surrounding Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion and data protection and the implications of non-compliance.
- B1 Well-developed knowledge of university systems and services and how they relate to externally funded projects.
- B2 Understanding of policies surrounding research management: Trusted Research, export control, and Responsible Research and Innovation.
- E1 Project/programme management experience in both small and large projects.
- E2 Demonstrable track record of successful staff leadership and management, including target setting and performance management.
The successful candidate will be offered a salary of Grade 8, £48,350 - £56,021 per annum, and will be required to work full-time (35 hours per week) for up to 5 years in the first instance.
