Job Title: Adult & Child Safeguarding Coordinator

The Adult & Child Safeguarding Coordinator will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of effective safeguarding for children and adults at risk are delivered across Stockport NHS FT in line with national, regional, and local guidance and legislative requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership of the operational delivery of services for safeguarding children & adults at risk, underpinned by sound practice within the clinical governance framework and the Care Act, Children Act, and Domestic Abuse Act.
  • Work in partnership with other statutory & non-statutory agencies with regard to safeguarding, in line with local & national legislation, policies & procedures.
  • Ensure that deaths of children & adult at risks are reported & collated in accordance with statutory requirements & local policy.
  • Provide expert knowledge & advice to Stockport NHS FT on its statutory duties for safeguarding adults & children as stipulated in primary legislation.
  • Develop & maintain links with NHS Trust Named/Specialist Nurses Safeguarding locally & regionally.
  • Line manage & support the 8A safeguarding leads within the adults & childrens teams.
  • Work with HR to ensure the effective monitoring & application of safe recruitment policies.
Requirements:
  • Evidence of personal & professional development in safe-guarding vulnerable persons/management of risk.
  • 5 years or more experience in safeguarding.
Knowledge & Skills:
  • Expert knowledge of local & national guidance.
  • Able to demonstrate 'research in practice' & relevance to safeguarding in a hospital setting.
  • Demonstrate senior leadership skills, reflecting an understanding of the safeguarding agenda.
  • Knowledge of legal framework, political & policy changes affecting safeguarding.
  • Knowledge of data protection & NHS code of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate awareness of issues when working across organisations & disciplines, & understanding change management.
  • Knowledge of MCA, Mental Health Act & the implications.
Qualifications:
  • Educated to MA level or professional equivalent.
  • Experience of & able to demonstrate portfolio of safeguarding training, delivered at hospital & multi-agencies.
