Job Title: SEN Teacher Position
Job Summary: GSL Education is seeking a qualified SEN Teacher to work with students who have diverse learning needs.
Responsibilities:
- Teach secondary aged students with special needs such as Autism, Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties, using an independent learning model.
- Develop, implement, and regularly review IEPs for students, setting realistic and challenging targets in collaboration with other professionals, parents, and the students themselves.
- Mark, assess work, and track pupil progress.
- Develop and adapt conventional teaching methods to meet the individual needs of pupils.
- Collaborate with Teaching Assistants to define appropriate activities for pupils in relation to the curriculum, focusing on Like Skills and Functional Skills.
- Be knowledgeable about warning signs and triggers.
- Follow Education Health Care Plans to ensure outcomes are met.
Requirements:
- Have UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Have at least 6 months experience working in special needs or alternative provisions.
- Have experience working in an SEN or mainstream setting with secondary-age students.
- A thorough understanding of safeguarding procedures and a commitment to promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Team player who works well within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the overall success of the school and its students.
- Hold an Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to complete one through GSL Education.
Please note that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS on the update service.
