Job Title: Project Engineer

As a key member of the Gatwick Airport team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the optimal development and design delivery of Airfield Electrical / Systems projects. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring compliance with technical, quality, cost, schedule, and business requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop project scope to meet business needs and deliver effective design management on individual projects.
  • Develop design briefs for external design consultants and ensure the design contract is implemented and effectively managed through the design process.
  • Guide design solutions promoting best practices, innovative techniques, technologies, and processes, driving consistency and identifying opportunities for efficiencies within project delivery.
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to support the successful delivery of projects.
  • Seek cost-effective design solutions and manage external design consultants.
  • Provide technical input to design changes throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Discharge the duties of Principal Designer (CDM Regulations 2015) with the support of a CDM Advisor.
Requirements:
  • University degree in electrical engineering or a construction-related discipline, or significant experience instead of education/qualifications.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of technical and regulatory requirements related to electrical engineering within an airfield environment.
  • Knowledge of airfield ground lighting (AGL), airfield systems, and associated airfield electrical infrastructure.
  • Desirable: knowledge of aerodrome design standards and a basic understanding of Instrument Landing Systems (ILS).
  • Experience in coordinating design teams and multi-discipline engineering resources, with a focus on electrical engineering.
