Role Overview

This is a challenging and rewarding role for an individual who is passionate about supporting the mental health of vulnerable students. The successful candidate will work in a specialist school near Guildford, providing support to children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

About the Role

The Mental Health Teaching Assistant will provide one-to-one support to students aged 4-19, increasing their engagement, attainment, and life chances. This will involve identifying risks and needs, escalating where necessary, and providing a consistent and empathetic presence in the classroom.

The ideal candidate will be able to build strong relationships with students, remain calm and resilient in situations of stress or conflict, and possess excellent communication skills. They will also have a caring and compassionate nature, with a good understanding of mental health.

Responsibilities
  • To provide one-to-one support to students aged 4-19
  • To identify risks and needs, escalating where necessary
  • To provide a consistent and empathetic presence in the classroom
  • To build strong relationships with students
  • To remain calm and resilient in situations of stress or conflict
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a relevant field would be advantageous but is not essential
  • Training, support, and CPD will be provided to ensure safeguarding of all students
  • The successful candidate must have the right to work in the UK
