Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Arboricultural Officer to join our team in Kirklees, West Yorkshire. As an Arboricultural Officer, you will play a crucial role in helping us conserve and manage the green infrastructure of our district.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a knowledgeable and enthusiastic individual to contribute to the delivery of our ambitious plans to enhance our natural heritage. You will be responsible for carrying out surveys and assessments for Tree Work applications, making Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs), and providing expert advice on developments affecting trees.

You will work closely with our Conservation, Design, Ecology, and Trees Team Leader to ensure the effective management of our tree works caseload. This includes providing expert advice to colleagues, managing the planned programme of Tree Preservation Order reviews, and taking responsibility for your own caseload.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out surveys and assessments for Tree Work applications.
  • Making Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) and other related case law.
  • Provide expert advice on developments affecting trees.
  • Manage the planned programme of Tree Preservation Order reviews.
  • Take responsibility for your own Tree Works caseload.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • A relevant qualification in Arboriculture or a related subject, or significant experience in the field.
  • Experience dealing with Tree Works in relation to Development Management.
  • Good knowledge of Planning law, policy, and procedures relating to trees.
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, Access, and specific IT packages.
  • Excellent written communication skills to produce clear reports and documentation.
  • The ability to work well under pressure, manage competing priorities, meet tight deadlines, and maintain a customer-focused outlook.
Salary and Benefits
