Lead Test Automation Engineer

£60,000 - £65,000 + Benefits + Bonus + Hybrid Working

RedRock Resourcing is seeking a highly skilled Lead Test Automation Engineer to join our client's team in Bristol. As a key member of the software development life cycle, you will play a crucial role in driving the quality and reliability of software products.

Working closely with the Test Manager, you will own the strategic improvement of automation throughout Delivery and be responsible for coaching the existing QA team in automation. Your expertise will be essential in reviewing, optimising and maintaining the current automation framework, as well as leading and expanding test automation throughout the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and expand test automation throughout the organisation.
  • Review, optimise and maintain the current automation framework.
  • Coach the existing QA team in automation.
  • Work closely with the Test Manager to drive the quality and reliability of software products.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience of Test Automation in an Agile environment.
  • Demonstrable experience of pro-active leading and coaching of automation.
  • Substantial understanding of unit, integration, and cross browser testing approaches.
  • Experience in the development of automation frameworks and technical non-functional testing.
  • Experience of using cross browser testing services like Browserstack Automate or Sauce Labs.
  • A thorough understanding of the software development life cycle.

Desirable Qualifications and Skills:

  • Extensive automation experience in various languages/frameworks including C#, TypeScript and ideally Playwright.
  • Significant API testing experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of software testing methodologies and best practices.
  • Experience of building automation frameworks from the ground up.
  • Understanding of what, when and how to automate complex test cases.
